Filling scratches / gouges

The servicing process begins with the filling of scratches / gouges on the polyethylene base. Single scratches and small cavities after cleaning are poured with polyethylene, larger cavities, damage to the core and any holes near the edges are filled with dedicated metal grip material. On the other hand, very large and deep damage of the base can be repaired by cutting out the damaged section and pasting a piece of new, cut-to-size slide in its place.

Waxing

Waxing of base is intended to protect against exposure that occurs while skiing through constant contact of the base with the ground. Friction forces act here, causing the glider to be more or less abraded (depending on the type of snow). After a long time without the use of wax, oxidation of polyethylene which the base is made also occurs, so that the base dries out and becomes faded. And in the case of flattened slopes and worse snow conditions, wax even makes it possible to ski.

Hot machine waxing

The wax is applied by placing a cube of grease on a heated roller and then transferring it to the ski base moving on it. In the next stage, the ski is moved along a rotating brush that polishes the base.

Hot hand iron waxing

Manual waxing with a hot iron is the most durable waxing method. Using a special iron, a cube of grease is melted into a slide and spread over the surface. The wax heated to the melting point penetrates precisely into the structure of the base. After drying, excess grease is removed with a scraper and the base is brushed and polished.
